Let me tell you – I’m so excited about my participation with Operation Smile. For those of you that don’t know, my son was born with a birth defect. Specifically, he was born without his tibia in his left leg. It was heart breaking to see this beautiful baby and not know what would happen to him. Would he have friends? Would he fall in love? Would he find a good job? My grand father was a Mason and pulled a few strings and got him into Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. My son was looked at by the best doctors in the US – if not the world. They all recommended amputation at the knee. It was a very hard decision to make at 22 years old. Never-the-less, we made it and I know in my heart it was the best decision.
My son grew up very well. He had lots of friends. Too many girlfriends to count. He played football & baseball. He was very active in high school, and was even named the highest postion in the JR ROTC program in the Mesquite ISD. Later, he graduated with a degree in Graphic Arts and Multi Media and now works with me at my day job – which was recently named one of the 50th Best Companies to work for in America!
So, as you can see, I feel a special bond with mothers who children were born with a deformity, and I’m so proud to be a part of Operation Smile. I hope to hear from you soon, to schedule your session with me in October!!!
