Naaman Forest High School Senior | Shelley Edwards Photography

Meet Clayton – graduating 2011 senior at Naaman Forest High School – Garland, Texas.  He’s tall – like really tall.  I know what you’re thinking – everyone’s tall compared to little old 5′ me.  However, he really is!  Not only is he tall – he has such a sweet personality and handsome too!  Nice combination to take to A&M – I’m sure he’ll love it there!

We had a great time at the park and I really appreciated how adventurous he was.  I had him walking barefoot on sharp rocks, climbing ledges, and walking in a very mossy creek bed.  We didn’t see snakes – which is always a plus for me.

Clayton – thank you so much for choosing me as your senior photographer – I wish you the best & am so happy that you’ll be going to A&M.

He has a nice smile too!

Family Portraits | Shelley Edwards Photography

My goodness. Has it really been 5 months since I last blogged? Seems I spend more time on Facebook or Twitter. Sure would be nice if they could somehow be inter-connected. You know – update one – update all.

Last weekend I decided to go out and take family portraits. It’s been so long since I’ve taken “professional” portraits of my children. Yes, I know – bad photographer. We picked the Stockyards for our location and it was such a pretty day. We ate at the LOVESHACK – they have such great burgers. YUM!

It was a beautiful day – very blue sky.  It wasn’t too hot or too cold – it was just right.  The kids were dressed cute and ready to smile for me.  We had one problem though – the wind.  OMG – it was so windy.  You know what that means right?  Wind + Stockyards {cow/horse smell} = allergy attack.  Daniel and Sara were smart – they took some Zyrtec before the shoot.  Cameron didn’t.  She sneezed so much that her nose bled.  She was miserable.  Unfortunately, we had to cut the shoot short.  I couldn’t even talk her into just shopping around.  You know that girl doesn’t feel well when she doesn’t want to shop.

Here are a few that I was able to capture before we called it a wrap.

Daniel & Sara

Quick Draw Daniel

The "one" Good Image with both kids

Daniel - he can work a pole!

Cameron - before the sneezes

I think we’ll have to do our session over – I just didn’t get to hit all my favorite locations at the Stockyards.  So get ready Daniel and Cameron (you too Sara) – Family Session part II coming soon!

Event Phothographer | Shelley Edwards Photography

So last weekend I attended Newman Smith High School, Class of 1985’s reunion – I was there as their event photographer. I’m actually an alumni of Newman Smith (Go Trojans) – so it was really fun seeing some of the peeps. Then again, when I was a senior, they were freshman, so I probably didn’t notice them much.  It didn’t really feel right selling CDs to my friends from the event, so I decided that it’s time to pay things forward.  Life has been really good to me lately, so all profits from the sale of the event CDs will be donated to Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org).  It’s a great organization that helps children who have facial deformities.  So NSHS friends – please contact me if you want to help us create a smile!

Let’s see – in 1985 – what was going on?

A gallon of gas: $1.09
Movie Tickets: $2.75
Avg Income: $22.1K
New Car: $9,005

Microsoft releases the first version of Windows, Windows 1.0
CDs (Compact Discs) are introduced to American Consumers
Coca-Cola introduces “New Coke” – & then went back to the orginal formula (thank goodness!)

Movies – Back to the Future (Go Marty McFly); Rocky IV
Music – Duran Duran; The Cure; Madonna

Ronald Regan was president

It also looks like it was the year that great friends graduated high school. The reunion had a wonderful turnout – here are a few pix….

These guys look like they were the ones to watch out for!

Ahhhh - beautiful girls!

Is it me, or has Gena not aged at all?

These two had me laughing all night! Mary is great a posing!

TaDa!

Look at those gorgeous smiles!

One of my favs for the night - love the genuine smiles & laughs!

Fun Products | Shelley Edwards Photography

Listen up y’all – I’m launching some really fun new products. I’m really excited about it too. As you may or may not know, I launched a Digital Line last fall. Yes, that’s right – I do offer digital files. Let’s face it – we’re in the digital age. All my digital collections come with a set of 4×5 or 5×7 professionally printed portraits. The reason why I do this is simple – I want all clients to know what professionally printed images are supposed to look like. However, that’s not to say that the local print shops at national chains don’t do a good job. I’m just saying that I do better.  Going forward, all my digital collections will also include these FABULOUS custom designed photo boxes.

Something else new – and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They’re little mini-accordion albums. I offer 2 sizes – 2×3 and 3×3. YUM YUM YUM.  These mini-albums are PERFECT for gifts and for mom’s purse.  They come with a small frosted cover.  Dreamy – yes – they’re wonderful – and affordable.  I had two clients in the past few weeks order the mini-albums as thank you gifts for their graduating seniors.  One ordered 15 and another ordered 9.

Hopefully more to follow this week.  It’s difficult to take product sample shots while also entertaining a very active 11 year old girl.  Summer plans – lovin’ summer  – having me a blast!!!!
