Event Phothographer | Shelley Edwards Photography

So last weekend I attended Newman Smith High School, Class of 1985′s reunion – I was there as their event photographer. I’m actually an alumni of Newman Smith (Go Trojans) – so it was really fun seeing some of the peeps. Then again, when I was a senior, they were freshman, so I probably didn’t notice them much.  It didn’t really feel right selling CDs to my friends from the event, so I decided that it’s time to pay things forward.  Life has been really good to me lately, so all profits from the sale of the event CDs will be donated to Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org).  It’s a great organization that helps children who have facial deformities.  So NSHS friends – please contact me if you want to help us create a smile!

Let’s see – in 1985 – what was going on?

A gallon of gas: $1.09
Movie Tickets: $2.75
Avg Income: $22.1K
New Car: $9,005

Microsoft releases the first version of Windows, Windows 1.0
CDs (Compact Discs) are introduced to American Consumers
Coca-Cola introduces “New Coke” – & then went back to the orginal formula (thank goodness!)

Movies – Back to the Future (Go Marty McFly); Rocky IV
Music – Duran Duran; The Cure; Madonna

Ronald Regan was president

It also looks like it was the year that great friends graduated high school. The reunion had a wonderful turnout – here are a few pix….

Thank you Class of 1985 – of all the photographers in the D/FW area – you chose me to capture the Reunion Memories – God Bless!

Fun Products | Shelley Edwards Photography

Listen up y’all – I’m launching some really fun new products. I’m really excited about it too. As you may or may not know, I launched a Digital Line last fall. Yes, that’s right – I do offer digital files. Let’s face it – we’re in the digital age. All my digital collections come with a set of 4×5 or 5×7 professionally printed portraits. The reason why I do this is simple – I want all clients to know what professionally printed images are supposed to look like. However, that’s not to say that the local print shops at national chains don’t do a good job. I’m just saying that I do better.  Going forward, all my digital collections will also include these FABULOUS custom designed photo boxes.

Something else new – and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE them. They’re little mini-accordion albums. I offer 2 sizes – 2×3 and 3×3. YUM YUM YUM.  These mini-albums are PERFECT for gifts and for mom’s purse.  They come with a small frosted cover.  Dreamy – yes – they’re wonderful – and affordable.  I had two clients in the past few weeks order the mini-albums as thank you gifts for their graduating seniors.  One ordered 15 and another ordered 9.

Hopefully more to follow this week.  It’s difficult to take product sample shots while also entertaining a very active 11 year old girl.  Summer plans – lovin’ summer  - having me a blast!!!!

Flower Mound Senior Portraits | Shelley Edwards Photography

Here are a few shots of the portrait I took of this beauty. She reminds me of a very young Winona Rider. She had a great spunky personality, and her dad is a very old & dear friend.   It was wonderful reconnecting with her father, and was totally honored they chose Shelley Edwards Photography for Riley’s senior portraits.

Congrats to Riley – I just know you’ll do very well – GO OUT AND SMASH IT!!!

Blogging Getting Old?

So, just out of curiousity, do people read blogs?  Is there still interest?  Sometimes it’s hard to come up with topics, especially during slow points of the season, but often it’s not.  I do enjoy blogging, but I often just plain forget to.  LOL – nobody caught me yesterday!  I purposely did not post yesterday – mainly because it was the 7th anniversary of 9/11.  It just didn’t seem right to promote my business yesterday.

A few topics that I’ll address the remainder of the month will involve portrait tips, my family’s favorite dinner recipes, and a few “sneak peak” sessions.  I really enjoy posting the sneak peaks!!!

I think my web host finally got things settled.  It was so very frustrating to launch a major fall campain, only to have my host drop the ball.  I still don’t know what happened, but I guess that’s all water under the bridge now.
